SUMMARY:Zine Making Workshop with Atif Akin
DESCRIPTION:A zine is a self-published\, often times low cost and lo-fi\, non-commercial publication that is easy to distribute in local circles. This workshop engages publication as an artistic practice in an effort to connect through cultural commons\, or the shared interdisciplinary knowledge acquired by varied communities.\nDuring the workshop we will use the visual source material that participants bring along\,\nlike old magazines\, photo albums\, record covers\, to cut\, copy and paste compositions\nand produce and reproduce saddle stitched zines for distribution in the local bookshop\nand other hubs around the residency. \nThis workshop will be taught by Atif Akin\, an artist from Turkey based in New York with a focus on technoscientific criticism in the context of contemporary art\, science\, and politics.

SUMMARY:Forest Bathing
DESCRIPTION:Find yourself in nature like you never have before. \nFeel your stress melt away as you get connected to your roots. \nWitness the magical transformation your mind\, body\, and spirit will move through as the mind takes a well-earned break\, the body gets some well-deserved attention and rejuvenation\, and spirit gets to connect with the beautiful bigger picture and serves up a dose of wonder\, fascination\, gratitude\, and connection. \nA forest bathing walk starts off with a guided meditation deepening into each of the senses\, and then you’ll be led through a series of invitations that offer the opportunity for deeper relaxation and connection with ourselves and the living world. \nWe will come together for optional sharing and close the experience with wildcrafted tea. \nForest bathing is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku\, which translates to “forest bath” and just means to take in the atmosphere of the forest through our senses (leave your swimsuit at home…no literal bathing required!). It is a practice of spending time in forested areas for the purpose of enhancing health\, wellness\, and happiness and remembering our connection to nature and each other. \nDecades of studies have discovered a wide range of health benefits associated with this practice\, including stress relief\, better sleep\, lowered blood pressure and inflammation\, and improved immunity.
