SUMMARY:April Exhibit: Judy Hoiness\, Tracy Leagjeld and Ingrid Lustig
DESCRIPTION:Tumalo Art Co. places 3 contemporary artists together with an exhibit opening April 4\, from 3-7pm during the First Friday Gallery Walk in the Old Mill District. Filling the front exhibit area Judy Hoiness\, Tracy Leagjeld and Ingrid Lustig bring their own artistic expression to how they experience the land\, water and wildlife we all share\, exploring their connection through their various methods—acrylic\, mixed media and monotype. \nJudy Hoiness will be showing new work in a series entitled\, ”WATER’’. “My WATER Series will explore the importance of water for wildlife and their habitat\, recreation and beauty.” Ingrid Lustig’s paintings are about open space\, the natural world\, the subconscious and archetypes\, portals\, and joy. “The images of animals in my work are my way of honoring their presence\, beauty and power on the planet as well as in our lives.” Tracy Leagjeld creates bold monotypes to communicate and share with others her love and reverence for nature. \nTumalo Art Co. is an artist-run gallery in the heart of the Old Mill District open 7 days a week. tumaloartco.com; 541-385-9144.

SUMMARY:Screenagers: Elementary Edition Film Screening + Expert Panel Event
DESCRIPTION:Well Wired\, a healthy tech advocacy group & family community in Central Oregon\, and the Waldorf School of Bend will be co-hosting a screening of the film Screenagers: Elementary School Age Edition (preview here) with an expert panel discussion to follow. The film addresses issues that elementary school kids\, parents and educators are facing (i.e.\, smartwatches in class\, unhooking from and monitoring video gaming\, social media pressures\, exposure too young and what research shows is a healthy amount of screen time)\, with many solutions to these and other challenges. Following the film\, an expert panel of local mental health care providers & safe screen time advocates will facilitate discussion and answer audience questions. \nThis FREE event is open to the public and we invite all parents\, educators\, caregivers\, and kids ages 6 and up to come watch\, listen\, learn\, and ask questions. Prepare your kids ages 6 and up for a 60-minute film and a 15-20 minute Q&A that will follow. Childcare also provided for kids ages 3-10 years old. \nSign-ups are REQUIRED if you plan to attend!
