SUMMARY:September Exhibit at Tumalo Art CO.—"Body Language" Dee McBrien-Lee
DESCRIPTION:Dee McBrien-Lee’s exhibit\, “Body Language”\, opens during the Old Mill District First Friday Gallery Walk\, September 4 from 3-7pm. Focusing on abstracted figures and the way they interact with each other\, each painting tells a story which is up to the viewer to interpret. In many cases the title gives a clue. To read more click here. \nDee thrives on the challenge that creating something without boundaries or clear guidelines offers her imagination. Most recently she has developed a series combining abstract elements incorporating the human figure. Beginning with large areas of color\, line and texture\, Dee seeks to discover her subjects as she goes through her process. Often just a single body part or suggestion of attitude in a mark or line will be the beginning of a figure. The other figures follow—sometimes intentionally\, sometimes through discovery. Dee prefers not to use set patterns as she works\, but allows every painting to speak to her as it develops a life and story all its own.

SUMMARY:Stargaze With a Guide
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Lazy Z Ranch for a special night of stargazing under the new moon as we celebrate the end of summer.  After the hustle of the summer\, September is the perfect time to pause\, look up\, and reset for the coming autumn season. \n​This evening will be led by local naturalist and educator Liz Thaete\, who is one of the Lead Guides at Starshine and Lazy Z Ranch resident.. You’ll take in the brilliance of Central Oregon’s night sky while locating constellations and listening to an ancient story about the stars. DESCRIPTION:Our annual open house is from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th of September. Come out and enjoy free train rides on our outdoor 1/8th scale railroad along with seeing the indoor HO Scale model railroad. This year we are pleased to offer an operating 1/8th scale steam donkey display just like what was used during logging operations on the full-size railroad. We’ll also have Operation Life Saver there to answer all your railroad safety questions. New this year will be a covered picnic area to enjoy lunch; feel free to bring your own or purchase from our food trucks that will be on site.
