SUMMARY:Printmaker Adell Shetterly with "Impressions" in November
DESCRIPTION:Printmaker Adell Shetterly’s exhibit of hand-pulled prints\, “Impressions”\, opens at Tumalo Art Co. November 6\, from 4-7pm. The show highlights a variety of print processes from monotype\, monoprint\, collagraph and combinations of print forms and media. From memories and moments in time\, Adell’s images integrate abstraction\, withcolor and texture inspired by natural environs. \nMuch like the first impressions we make on others upon a first meeting\, the first impressions made from a plate as it contacts a sheet of paper pulled through a press deeply influence the direction of the printmaker. Each print technique creates unique effects that cannot be created by any other means. \n“Many of my works are inspired by encounters with nature and recorded with photography to be brought forth at a later date to explore the question\, ‘What if’? What if I focus on just this piece in the photo? What if I quiet my mind and remember the sense of place or feeling from this photo?”\, explains Adell. “I am fascinated by printmaking as an art form; there are so many permutations. Design possibilities\, techniques and variations in each technique provide hours of creative exploration. Every new work reinforces what I do know and it also instigates excitement for what comes next. Printmaking is innovative\, creative and wide open to interpretation. It has its own lexicon and l hope\, lasting impressions.” \nTumalo Art Co is an artist-run gallery in the heart of the Old Mill District\, open 7 days a week. tumaloartco.com; 541-385-9144.

SUMMARY:Exhibit Opening: "The Image Hunter"
DESCRIPTION:Come experience a unique\, colorful and captivating exhibition\, and consider an old master and his motivations through a new lens. We are pleased to introduce The Image Hunter: On the Trail of John James Audubon\, an exhibition featuring work by the artist Hitnes. John James Audubon (1785 – 1851) was an ornithologist\, naturalist and painter. Audubon was the first to describe several Western birds to science\, including the Bell’s vireo and Western meadowlark. He explored the country for over a decade in the early 1800s to create his opus\, The Birds of America (1827–1839). Many consider this color-plate book of 435 watercolors\, reproduced from hand-engraved plates\, to be one of the finest ornithological works ever completed.

SUMMARY:Hydro Logic—New Paintings about Water by David Kinker
DESCRIPTION:David Kinker paints from his journeys on rivers throughout Oregon and the world. Rafting and kayaking wild waters brings him to hidden places only seen from the water\, and inspires him to capture the essence of these rare places. “Hydro Logic”\, opening Friday\, October 2\, from 4-7pm\, brings together new images from David’s recent trips to many of his favorite rivers. \nPainting plein-air on long river floats deep into scenic areas\, David then goes to his studio and paints many of the images on larger canvases. He teaches art and creates murals\, recently finishing a two-story\, multi-wall\, wrap-around scene of Central Oregon’s Cascade mountains in a private home. Working with unique exotic woods\, David makes his own custom frames\, giving his art an extra dimension of creativity. \nTumalo Art Co. is an artist-run gallery in the heart of the Old Mill District\, open 7 days a week.541-385-9144; tumaloartco.com.
