SUMMARY:Sweeney Todd at the Greenhouse Cabaret
DESCRIPTION:Attend the tale\, of Sweeney Todd. Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s landmark musical tells the tale of a resourceful pie shop owner and a vengeful barber out for blood. After he’s sent away by a corrupt judge\, Sweeney returns to London years later seeking his long-lost family\, and forms an unlikely partnership with Mrs. Lovett\, who serves up pies underneath his former shop. Together\, they wreak havoc on Fleet Street and serve up the hottest – and most unsettling – pies in London. \nPerformed and nicknamed\, “Teeny Sweeney”\, our version stars 11 actors\, rather than a large ensemble. It focuses on the brilliant music and rich storytelling of this haunting tale. \n  \n*Attention: This production contains violence\, blood\, smoke\, sexual assault\, disturbing images\, and loud noises. PG-13+. \nRuns 2 hours and 45 min with a 15 min intermission. 7:00PM START TIME (not 7:30 like usual!) No late seating.

SUMMARY:The Beaver Den - Scientific Literacy Book Club
DESCRIPTION:Each month we select a published research paper relating to beavers to read\, critically evaluate\, and discuss. \nBeavers are fascinating animals with so many mechanisms of influencing the world. Closely examining primary literature will give us a deeper understanding of how their influences on other species and environmental processes are studied and established. Scientific writing can be impenetrable\, but discussing a text together is a great way to enhance understanding and grow curiosity for the details that others notice. \nNovember’s full moon is known as the Beaver Moon – because beavers have a final burst of energy to bolster their dams and food supplies before slowing down for the winter…. when wolves become more active! Let’s read about the outsized effect wolves have on lands they share with beaver via predation and the ensuing trophic cascades: \nGable\, T. D.\, Johnson-Bice\, S. M.\, Homkes\, A. T.\, Windels\, S. K.\, & Bump\, J. K. (2020). Outsized effect of predation: Wolves alter wetland creation and recolonization by killing ecosystem engineers. Science Advances\, 6(46)\, eabc5439. \nContact Maureen (Maureen@thinkwildco.org) with questions on this or future meetings
