Here’s our list of the best things to do in Central Oregon this weekend, from beer yoga to Oktoberfest.
Bend Beer Yoga
October 19, October 22 | 10 Barrel (east) and GoodLife, Bend
The only way this event could be more “Bend” is if dogs were included. Bend Beer Yoga is a beginner yoga class with a twist, or more accurately, with a beer. Drink a beer from a local brewery while you go through a restorative flow from a certified yoga instructor. Events will take place at different breweries throughout the year. Take the class on October 19 at 10 Barrel’s new location and October 22 at GoodLife.
Bend Venture Conference
October 19-20 | Tower Theatre, Bend
It’s Shark Tank without the Hollywood theatrics. Startups from Bend and the Pacific Northwest compete for funding from the Cascade Angel Fund at the Bend Venture Conference, the largest of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. The conference brings in business and investment leaders from around the country for this two-day event.
October 20-21| Oxford Hotel and Riverhouse Hotel, Bend
Leaves are soon to be falling to the sounds of jazz as two musical series return to Bend and resume their seasonal schedules. The eighth annual Jazz at the Oxford series kicks off this weekend with two performances from T.S. Monk, son of legendary be-bop pianist Thelonious Monk, on October 20 and 21. The Mt. Bachelor Riverhouse Jazz Series also kicks off that weekend with performances from the Kandace Strings Quartet. Each series continues through April.
October 21 | Roslund Park Pavilion, La Pine
Have a soft spot for schnitzel and Sound of Music soundtrack? La Pine’s first annual Oktoberfest will take place on October 21 at the Roslund Park Pavilion. Admission is free to the family-friendly event, but you can purchase meal tickets to get a catered meal consisting of traditional Bavarian-style dishes. There will be live music throughout the day, as well as competitions for the best homebrew, sauerkraut and costumes.

There’s a new farm in town. To celebrate, it’s throwing an Autumn Celebration party. Head to Alfalfa this weekend for live music from The Little Noisemakers, farm tours, a pop-up farmers market with the harvest from local farms, games, local food and drinks and more.
Volunteer Connect Board Member Drive
October 23 | Deschutes Brewery, Bend
Think of it as speed dating for the civic minded. Volunteer Connect is hosting a “board member” drive in an effort to help area nonprofits fill vacant seats on their boards of directors. Attend the Volunteer Connect board member recruitment drive on Monday night at Deschutes Brewery’s downtown pub and find an organization that will allow you get a little more out of living Central Oregon by giving a little back. The event is from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the brewery’s second floor event room and will include representatives from roughly two dozen area community organizations, including Brightside Animal Center, Camp Fire Central Oregon and Cascades Theatrical Company.
