There are great events happening around town this weekend, including Hoodoo’s Winter Carnival and lots of live music to cure your cabin fever.
A Capella Festival
February 7-10 | Various Locations
A capella performers will be taking over Bend this weekend for the annual A Capella Festival. The competition brings high school, collegiate and adult a capella groups for a weekend of competitions and workshops. Deke Sharon, known as the father of modern-day a capella, will also be at the festival. Look for tickets to performances at Tower Theatre.
Jazz at the Oxford: Paul Taylor

Hopefully you already got your tickets to see saxophonist Paul Taylor, the featured performer at this month’s Jazz at the Oxford weekend held at The Oxford Hotel. He has more than ten albums under his belt and has hit the Top 10 of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart.
Hoodoo Winter Carnival
February 9 | Hoodoo Ski Area | Free activities, lift tickets sold separately
Spend the day at Hoodoo Ski Area near Sisters. There will be free, fun and family-friendly activities to take part in all day with events like Frisbee golf, a pie-eating contest, a snow-sculpture contest and more. The Winter Carnival is a forty-year tradition that ends with fireworks on the ski hill.
Bend Polar Plunge
February 9 | Riverbend Park | $50
Take part in the annual tradition that is not for the faint of heart. The Bend Polar Plunge takes place on Saturday. Raise $50, all of which will benefit Special Olympics Oregon, and you can join others in taking a chilly, early morning dip into the Deschutes.
Live Music
On Wednesday night Turkauz with Object Heavy will take over the Domino Room. Volcanic has shows all weekend, with shows from Terrapin Flyer, High Step Society, Shaky Harlots and more. House musicians Hatiras & Nathaniel J will be playing at free show at The Capitol on Thursday night. Just outside Sisters, The Suttle Lodge will host a live fireside show on Saturday night featuring Portland indie band Afterlife Revival. At McMenamins, Armchair Boogie will playing on Wednesday and Maxwell Friedman Group will take the stage on Thursday.
