Katherine Taylor August Exhibit: High Loft, The Majestic Reach Upwards
Oil painter Katherine Taylor, known for her use of dramatic chiaroscuro lighting and luminous glazing, opens “High Loft: The Majestic Reach Upward”, August 7, during the Old Mill District First Friday Gallery Walk, from 3-7pm. The exhibit will be up through the end of the month.
This exhibit is about things that aim high, both in the natural world and within our human aspirations for a better future. So, Katherine choose to paint landscapes with a high loft element…something in nature that reaches upward (some would say heavenward) and raises the mood of the collective. “There’s a reason people want to hang beautiful landscapes on their walls”,” she says, “they depend on these images to remind them to always reach for nature’s harmony, balance, and majesty.” From a very large painting with huge clouds over the Cascades at sunset, to a single white bird soaring upward, these subjects glow with emotion.
