artHouse LTA presents “Freeze Frame” a First Friday Event

BEND, OR — December 5, 2025 — Bend’s newest creative space, artHouse LTA, announces its latest First Friday event, Freeze Frame, a vibrant, winter-themed night of contemporary art, color, texture, and community connection. The event takes place on Friday, December 5th, from 5 – 9 pm at 113 NW Minnesota Ave., right in the heart of downtown Bend.

Since their Grand Opening on November 7th, Freeze Frame marks the first step in artHouse’s mission to bring a refreshing, modern alternative to Bend’s long-established fine-art landscape. In a city known for galleries that can feel buttoned-up, beige, and politely predictable, artHouse stands defiantly on the other end of the artistic spectrum. artHouse is loud where others are quiet, disruptive where others play it safe, and deeply human where others lean into pretense.

At the center of Freeze Frame is gallery owner and artist Gabriel LTA, whose large-scale, layered, highly-textured paintings have quickly become recognizable for their bold palettes, emotional transparency, and signature surreal motifs, including the beloved “Angelephant” figure featured in the event artwork.

Visitors can expect:
– Brand-new winter-inspired works created specifically for the event
– Immersive textures and abstract landscapes that reflect Bend’s coldest season in unique & unexpected ways
– Light refreshments and a carefully curated atmosphere designed to highlight the coolest of tones contrasted against frozen motion
– An exhibition space intentionally designed to be un-stuffy, un-pretentious, and deeply welcoming

“Bend has incredible artists, but the gallery experience here has been stuck in the same temperature-controlled box for too long,” said Gabriel LTA. “artHouse is about breaking that mold—giving people a space that feels alive, accessible, and artist-first. Freeze Frame will capture that energy: like seeing your breath on a cold, crisp evening against the vibrance of a full moon.”

Since opening, artHouse has quickly become a creative hub for artists, collectors, community members, and visitors who crave something different—something with a pulse.

November—Anne Gibson, “Reflections & Reveries”

Anne Gibson opens “Reflections and Reveries” November 7, from 3-7pm during the Old Mill District First Friday Gallery Walk. Please come for our opening reception and also enjoy the exhibit through the end of the month.

In this body of work painter Anne Gibson considers reflections and what is true? The reflection in the water is real, but it’s not necessarily what you see above the waterline. Is what you remember truer than a photo snapped in the moment? Truth can be deceptive. Anne Gibson primarily sees ‘place’ as her inspiration. She finds herself moved to paint places and memories that fill her heart. Yet recently, she has also been exploring how to portray what breaks her heart as well.

September Exhibit at Tumalo Art Co—Adell Shetterly “Throughline”

Printmaker Adell Shetterly opens “Throughline”, September 5, with a reception from 3-7pm during the Old Mill District First Friday Gallery Walk.

Throughline speaks not only to what connects these works, but also what connects Adell to the practice of printmaking itself. It’s about trust in process, in repetition, in growth and progression; a celebration of the tactile language of printmaking. “There’s no single narrative here, but perhaps, in the rhythm, the spaces or the edges where the shapes meet you’ll discover a thread in the spaces between that resonates quietly or feel unexpectedly familiar echoing your own story.”

Adell works in a range of printmaking techniques, including monotype, monoprint, collagraph, and linocut, at times integrating mixed media. For her, the heart of her work lies not only in the finished piece but in the journey of discovering it—a pursuit of creativity, curiosity, and connection.

Untamed Bloom in August with Sarah B. Hansen

Sarah B. Hansen opens her August exhibit, “Untamed Bloom”, at Tumalo Art Co. on August 1, from 3-7 pm during the Old Mill District First Friday Gallery Walk.

“Untamed Bloom” is a series that celebrates the wild, resilient energy of nature and the human spirit. Inspired by wildflowers that thrive in unexpected places, these paintings explore emotional depth through color, movement, and the use of negative space. Each piece reflects a different state of being—vibrant, unraveled, quiet, or bold. This series is a tribute to resilience, to beauty that refuses to be contained, and to the emotional wilderness we all carry within. The mixed media paintings in this exhibit are large format, creating a strong presence.

“Spirit Takes Flight”, Danae Bennett-Miller June Exhibit

“Spirit Takes Flight”, an exhibit of sculpture and original monoprints by Danae Bennett-Miller opens June 6, from 3-7pm, during the First Friday Gallery Walk in the Old Mill District.

Danae’s sculptures and original monoprints use organic shapes and rich but subtle colors to capture the essence of the animals that surround her during her daily life on the ranch. These sculptures of birds, deer, and elk dance with life. Her One-of-a-kind bronze sculptures are part of the cultural landscape in Bend through public placements.

Each sculpture is made from multiple pieces of flowed wax that when cast in bronze or glass have an organic quality that seems to interpret the animals energy. Danae creates 2D mixed media works that combine torn monoprint collages placed onto cradled board with several layers of poured resin, building up the surface with more texture, lines between each layer of resin.

May Exhibit at Tumalo Art Co.—Shelli Walters “Open Nature”

Shelli Walters May exhibit, “Open Nature”, at Tumalo Art Co. features new mixed media paintings and paper mache sculpture. The opening reception is May 2, during the First Friday Gallery Walk from 3-7pm in the Old Mill District.

Says Shelli about her art process—”Being in nature opens us up. Releasing us from negative thoughts and energy. Inviting harmony back into our lives. Creating art is a natural extension of this experience. This art/nature connection is the heart of my work,”

With a lifetime of art making and design experience at her fingertips Shelli digs into the use of alternative tools to apply paint. Splashes, drips, bold smears of color, juxtaposed with delicate textures scratched into paint, bits of handwriting and type echo the bold and subtle qualities found in nature. All play so beautifully together – making everything come alive amidst the inviting color palette.

April Exhibit: Judy Hoiness, Tracy Leagjeld and Ingrid Lustig

Tumalo Art Co. places 3 contemporary artists together with an exhibit opening April 4, from 3-7pm during the First Friday Gallery Walk in the Old Mill District. Filling the front exhibit area Judy Hoiness, Tracy Leagjeld and Ingrid Lustig bring their own artistic expression to how they experience the land, water and wildlife we all share, exploring their connection through their various methods—acrylic, mixed media and monotype.

Judy Hoiness will be showing new work in a series entitled, ”WATER’’. “My WATER Series will explore the importance of water for wildlife and their habitat, recreation and beauty.” Ingrid Lustig’s paintings are about open space, the natural world, the subconscious and archetypes, portals, and joy. “The images of animals in my work are my way of honoring their presence, beauty and power on the planet as well as in our lives.” Tracy Leagjeld creates bold monotypes to communicate and share with others her love and reverence for nature.
