Free Holiday Dog Photo at Mountain Dogs Pet Resort

Mountain Dogs Pet Resort, a newly opened dog daycare and boarding facility in Southeast Bend, is inviting local families to participate in a free holiday photo event featuring their dogs. The event is open to the public, but we are asking families to register in advance at https://bit.ly/MountainDogsHolidayPhotos.

Attendees may choose from two themed backdrops: a traditional photo with Santa or a Hanukkah-themed setting for those who celebrate. Families are welcome to join their dogs in the photos.

The dates for the photo sessions are:

Saturday, 12/6/25 10AM-2:30 PM
Sunday, 12/7/25 10AM-2:30 PM
Saturday, 12/13/25 10AM-2:30 PM

Holiday Brunch Barket with Kendall Cares

Come celebrate the holidays with Street Dog Hero at this year’s Holiday Brunch Barket! This year, we are teaming up with the Kendall Cares Program to host a Holiday Barket on December 7th from 11am-2pm at the Kendall Audi Dealership in Bend. We will have adoptable dogs, snacks, mimosas, photos with Santa, and lots of amazing local businesses!

Cooper’s Birthday Market at Schilling’s

Come swing by Schilling’s Garden Market on Saturday, October 18th to celebrate Cooper’s Birthday and meet some adoptable Street Dog Hero dogs! The celebration will include costumes, dog-centric vendors, food, adoptable dogs, and more! Schilling’s is a beautiful venue with gardens, wine, beer, and a farm stand. Come celebrate Cooper’s birthday and get in the Halloween spirit! See you there!

2nd Annual Doggolympics

Get ready for a tail-wagging good time on Saturday, July 5th, from 11 AM to 4 PM at the beautiful Old Mill in Bend, OR, outside Greg’s Grill! This year’s Doggolympics promises to be bigger and better, with four exciting events: the thrilling obstacle course, heart-pounding high jump, speedy sprint, and the crowd-pleasing best trick routine! Join Street Dog Hero for our 6th Annual Heroes in the Run 5K & 10K happening at Riverbend Park in Bend, OR, on Sunday, September 28th! What happens at Senior Dog Prom?
Senior Dog Prom is a love letter to our dogs! FREE to attend!
This year’s theme is “PawHide!” – so find the best western outfit you can for your dog (and maybe for yourself as well!. This is not necessary, but how many opportunities do you have to dress up yourself and your dog in matching outfits?!
And then head the Midtown Yacht Club to show off!
We will have Taneya Hayden Photography with a western-themed backdrop, ready to take pictures worthy of framing. Pictures are $35.
We will have a showcase competition for positions on the prom court, including:
* best underbite
* best dressed
* cutest couple
…and more!
And naturally, the afternoon will culminate in the counting of votes to crown the 2025 Senior Dog Prom KING and QUEEN!
Our winners from 2024, Chewy and Tora, are coming to hand off the title!

4th Annual For the Love of Pets Benefit Festival

Bring the whole family (two- and four-legged) to enjoy a good time benefiting local shelters and rescues! July 18, 2020 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at American Legion Park in Redmond.

This FREE, dog-friendly community festival is host to an IPA tasting, music, silent auction, raffle, dozens of vendors and adoptable pets galore. 100% of funds raised at the event are split among the beneficiaries, which are Brightside Animal Center, Three Rivers Humane Society, Humane Society of the Ochocos and Herd U Needed A Home.

Outdoor Fest @ LOGE Bend

Join LOGE Bend for their final Outdoor Fest of the Summer with Patagonia Provisions and Sunski. Come around 4pm to play in Sunski’s epic kickball match or relax and try some tasty environmentally-friendly snacks from Patagonia Provisions. Live music from Leadbetter Band will be start-up around 6:00pm and play till 8:00pm. The Entrada Cafe and Taproom will be open and serving up beers all-day. We can’t wait to close out our Outdoor Fest series with you all this weekend!

LOGE Outdoor Fest

Join LOGE Bend and some other cool cats doing awesome things in the outdoor industry for a series of fun afternoon hangouts! Our first outdoor fest will take place this coming Saturday from 2pm-8pm. Here’s what’s up:

– Ubco Bikes: Rip around on an Ubco Electric Motobike and meet local Bend snowboard super hero Austin Smith. We hear he’s the bees knees. These mini motos are perfect for dual track, dirt riding or just for commuting to work in the city! Ubco will be doing free demos, so come hop on!

– Rumpl: If you were at our Memorial Day party you know how epic a Rumpl Sack Race is. And if you missed out, we’ll here’s your next chance! Sign up at the property for the 4pm sack race and your chance to win a Rumpl!

– Rainier Beer: No pnw summer hang out is complete with out Rainier brews, duh. Drink some brews and strike a pose in the Rainier photo booth. You’ll be entered to win a stay at LOGE, plus who doesn’t love a photo booth pic?! We’ll provide the props, you provide the fun pose!

Boldly Went: Live Outdoor Adventure Storytelling Show and Podcast

The authors of the popular book, The Dirtbag’s Guide to Life: Eternal Truths for Hiker Trash, Ski Bums, and Vagabonds” are bringing their traveling show to XXX to collect your adventure stories and share them in their popular Boldly Went podcast. Come for an evening of sharing your outdoor adventure stories and meet like-minded people. Settle in to listen or get prepared to share your adventure stories in 10 minutes or less from 7-9 PM.

You can’t shred gnar, bomb down trail, climb volcanoes, and run whitewater all the time. But at Boldly Went we know that when you’re not, you want to talk about your adventures with other people who get it – probably over beer. And every thru hiker, trail runner, mountain biker, climber, paddler, sailor, scuba diver, flyer, and Indiana Jones wannabe has at least one story that will inspire, inform, or at least entertain the rest of us, so we’re pulling together crowds of you and randomly selecting you to go on stage to give us your best.

Dog Owners on their Best Behavior

Recently I was returning my shopping cart in the parking lot of a Bend supermarket, and a person passing said, “Gosh, you people do that here?”      Yes, we do. It’s just one example of our local culture of being nice, along with not honking our car horns or unnecessarily idling our car engines. And, when it comes to hitting the trails in spring, it’s important for people with dogs to follow our etiquette, which also happens to be our leash law.

Bend is known for being a dog-loving community as well as a recreational mecca, and the city has done a great job of accommodating everyone, including designating off-leash areas just for dogs. As the weather warms up, we all start to feel footloose and fancy free, so it’s important to tap into your moral compass and be respectful of everyone on our trails.

The Central Oregon group dogpac.org helps maintain off-leash areas and educates people about being responsible dog owners. It offers these tips for practicing good etiquette for off-leash areas and trails.
