Screenagers: Elementary Edition Film Screening + Expert Panel Event

Well Wired, a healthy tech advocacy group & family community in Central Oregon, and the Waldorf School of Bend will be co-hosting a screening of the film Screenagers: Elementary School Age Edition (preview here) with an expert panel discussion to follow. The film addresses issues that elementary school kids, parents and educators are facing (i.e., smartwatches in class, unhooking from and monitoring video gaming, social media pressures, exposure too young and what research shows is a healthy amount of screen time), with many solutions to these and other challenges. Following the film, an expert panel of local mental health care providers & safe screen time advocates will facilitate discussion and answer audience questions.

This FREE event is open to the public and we invite all parents, educators, caregivers, and kids ages 6 and up to come watch, listen, learn, and ask questions. Prepare your kids ages 6 and up for a 60-minute film and a 15-20 minute Q&A that will follow. Childcare also provided for kids ages 3-10 years old.

Sign-ups are REQUIRED if you plan to attend!

“Encanto” tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal—every child except one, Mirabel (voice of Stephanie Beatriz). But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.
