The heat of the summer is finally here and just like the rising temps, the events across Central Oregon are really starting to get hot. There is something for everyone this weekend with Balloons Over Bend kicking off on Friday morning and the second weekend of the High Desert Classics taking place over the whole weekend. If you’re looking for a little adventure, the Subaru Outside Games are back for some of the best bouldering and bike events you will witness this summer. There is also plenty of music on tap for those looking to let loose and jam out.

Oregon High Desert Classics Weekend II

July 24-28 | Bend | Free

The premier Northwest equestrian event returns to Bend for the second of two weekends worth of entertainment. With events scheduled all day for weekend two in each of six rings, there is always something to see at the Oregon High Desert Classics. Spectators are welcome at any time to watch the athleticism of the horses, wander through the marketplace booths and have a meal from the food trucks. This is a rare opportunity to see top riders from across the continent as they compete for over $150,000 in prizes.

Subaru Outside Games

July 25-28 | Bend | Free

The Subaru of Bend Outside Games is back for four days of celebrating the best that Central Oregon has to offer. With live music and competitions in rock climbing, biking, paddling and plenty of events for kids and an incredibly entertaining dog show, this event truly encompasses what Central Oregon is all about. The fun and games take place on the trails around the town, up the road at Mt Bachelor and at Elk Lake and on the beautiful Deschutes River. Bring the kids & the dog, challenge yourselves, learn from the pros, try a new sport, head out to a concert and just relax under the summer skies.

Balloons Over Bend

July 26-28 | Bend | Free Balloons

Balloons Over Bend is back for a full weekend of balloon launches, night glows and balloon-filled skies. The family-friendly activities kick off on Friday at the Children’s Festival, benefiting Saving Grace. With an array of activities, such as bounce houses, face painting, the Balloons Blast Kids Race and more, the Children’s Festival held at Riverbend Park is the place to bring the kids Friday evening. In the morning hours throughout the weekend rise and shine to witness hot air balloons lift off from RE Jewell Elementary School and float across the backdrop of an incredible Central Oregon sunrise for a larger than life spectacle that the whole family will enjoy. At night, enjoy the Night Glow event at Riverbend Park and in Redmond on Saturday at Sam Johnson Park, for an opportunity to get up close to hot air balloons, and to sit back and watch them light up the sky.

Newberry Event Music & Arts Festival

July 26-27 | La Pine | Prices Vary

The 2019 Newberry Event Music & Arts Festival/Charity Fundraiser to Defeat MS is an outdoor, ticketed, 3-day festival well-known as a good time for a good cause. Taking place at the DiamondStone Guest Lodge between Sunriver and La Pine, the shady aspens & pines create an unforgettable venue in south Deschutes County for this family-friendly event. Featured music acts include Pigs On The Wing, Tal Wilknefeld, Rad Trads, and many more.

Jefferson County Fair

July 24-27 | Madras | Free

The Jefferson County Fair in Madras is considered Central Oregon’s best free fair! Bring the whole family and enjoy concerts, food, carnival, animals, exhibits, rodeo and a whole lot more! This event is held at the beautiful Jefferson County Fair complex and there will be concerts each night.

Sisters Rhythm & Brews Festival

July 26–27 | Sisters | Free

The Sisters Rhythm & Brews Festival is a two-day music extravaganza, featuring local craft beers and food vendors. The festival kicks off in the heart of downtown Sisters at the Village Green Park on Friday with performances by Larkin Poe, Mr. Sipp TMBC, The White Buffalo, Sassparilla, and many more. There’s no better way to spend a hot summer weekend in Central Oregon.

 

Feast From The Fire
