Weekend Roundup: Jan. 30-Feb. 3

It’s a great weekend to be in Central Oregon. Join Winter Pridefest on the mountain, the Bend Boulder Bash in town or Luminaria off Cascade Lakes Highway. There’s also a new gallery opening and a host of live music to see.

Winter Pridefest

Winter Pridefest
January 31-February 3 | Mt. Bachelor | Prices vary

This weekend, OUT Central Oregon hosts Winter Pridefest, a three-day LGBTQ+ community event. There will be skiing discounts at Mt. Bachelor, organized trips for skiing and tubing, parties in town and an après ski bash on the mountain. There are also great discounts available around town for anyone who is joining in on the festivities.

Bend Boulder Bash
February 1 | Bend Rock Gym | $70

Bend Boulder Bash is the region’s premier indoor rock climbing competition. Hosted each year by the Bend Rock Gym, competitors test their skills at a range of problems. Bend Rock Gym provides lots of swag for competitors and finalists compete for a cash prize.

Copeland Gallery Opening
February 1 | Copeland Gallery, Sunriver | Free

Chad Copeland is an adventure photographer whose work has appeared in National Geographic, BBC’s Planet Earth series, Men’s Journal, Netflix, the 2016 Olympics, ESPN and more. This weekend, a new gallery featuring his work opens in Sunriver, where fine art prints of his work will be available to purchase. The Copeland Gallery opening party takes place from 5-8 p.m. and will have beverages and hor d’oeuvres available.

Luminaria
February 2 | Virginia Meissner Sno-Park | Free

If you have never experienced the magical Nordic skiing event Luminaria, then this weekend is your chance. Head up to Virginia Meissner Sno-Park on Saturday night and join the group as they ski to the Meissner Shelter and back with only the light of the moon and candles that guide the way. It’s one of Meissner’s biggest fundraising events, so donations are encouraged.

Live Music

The Shook Twins will be playing in Sisters this weekend along with John Craigie, as part of the Winter Concert Series from the Sisters Folk Festival. The Bend-favorite folk duo always charms audiences with their shows. There’s also good lineup at Midtown Ballroom and The Domino Room this weekend. On Wednesday, JJ Grey and Mofro will take the stage. The incomparable Reverend Horton Heat returns to offer Bend a straight shot of their signature punk-styled rockabilly on Friday night. And on Saturday, The Green, Eli-Mac and FIA will be playing.
