Central Oregon is blooming with lavender! Discover Central Oregon’s Lavender Country with the 1st annual Lavender Festival in Redmond, OR.
Home to more than a dozen lavender farms, the region has become one of the largest lavender-growing destinations in the Pacific Northwest. Now, local farmers are coming together to celebrate this beautiful and growing agricultural community with the launch of a new Lavender Festival in Redmond.
The inaugural event invites locals and visitors alike to experience the beauty and charm of Central Oregon’s lavender country while supporting the local farmers, growers, and small businesses helping put the region on the map as a premier lavender destination.
Hosted by High Desert Florals and Redmond Burger, the first festival will take place on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway, exploring Central Oregon, or simply looking for a unique local experience, this is a wonderful opportunity to discover something new and experience the region through its farms, flowers, and local community.
Join us for an enjoyable evening to celebrate Oregon cheese month featuring a guided wine and cheese pairing flight. This event is designed for anyone interested in learning how different wines and cheeses complement each other. Each cheese was hand selected by our team to highlight the best local Oregon cheeses and to feature the wide variety of cheeses produced in Oregon.
Guests will sample a flight of four curated wines, each paired with a curated cheese chosen to highlight the best in both. Along the way, a wine professional will share insights into pairing principles and the stories behind the selections. Join SOLVE for the second annual Pick It Up, Bend!, a community-powered cleanup dedicated to keeping Bend beautiful. On Sunday, September 27, from 10 am–12 pm, volunteers will spread out across the iconic Old Mill District and Hayden Homes Amphitheater to make a visible, immediate impact. Individuals, families, businesses, and organizations are all invited to step up, take action, and help protect Bend’s natural spaces.
This cleanup is a pre-event celebration of environmental stewardship leading into the Jack Johnson concert that evening. That night, SOLVE will continue the momentum as a Village Green partner at the Jack Johnson concert, bringing the spirit of stewardship to an unforgettable evening of music and community. The 4th annual Keep Your Head Up, Bend, Saturday, September 19 from 3 to 11 PM, coincides with National Suicide Awareness Month and follows the September 12 Central Oregon Walk Out of the Darkness (Alpenglow Park in Bend, 10 AM). This year Keep Your Head Up returns to local hostel Bunk + Brew, in downtown Bend at 42 NW Hawthorne Avenue, with musical performances, a raffle, art activities, a memorial wall, food, and beer carts for refreshment.

Join us for the second gathering in our Perch, Paint & Bloom: Oregon Birds series as we paint a charming Oregon Quail perched on a wire fence. This beginner friendly class provided all the supplies you’ll need in a small group setting and is open to those 18+.

We’re still buzzing from the magic of Bend Magazine’s 11th Anniversary Party. We celebrated by bringing together advertisers, contributors, partners and supporters for an evening dedicated to the people who make Central Oregon special. The celebration was centered around connection and gratitude and culminated with Gerry Lopez receiving the 2026 Soul of Central Oregon Award, recognizing his lasting impact on the region and the community he calls home.

Nearly 200 guests gathered on the lawn at Oregon Media’s headquarters for a luau with live music by Bill Keale. Donner Flower Shop outdid itself with colorful floral arrangements featuring bird-of-paradise blooms and orchids that transformed the space, while Bowtie Catering delighted everyone with island-inspired cuisine. Our friends at Crafted Life kept the good times flowing with craft cocktails and a beer canoe. Sunriver Brewing provided refreshing local brews.
The relaxed atmosphere encouraged conversation and connection as friends, partners and supporters gathered to celebrate another year of telling Central Oregon’s stories.
In 2024, Oregon Media established the Soul of Central Oregon Award to celebrate individuals who have helped shape the culture, identity and future of Central Oregon. This year’s recipient, Gerry Lopez, embodies the spirit and values of our region. Known worldwide as “Mr. Pipeline,” Gerry Lopez has inspired generations through his humility, adventurous spirit and commitment to community. A longtime Central Oregon resident, Gerry has championed the outdoors, healthy living and a life lived with purpose. Through his character, generosity, and example, Gerry Lopez truly embodies the Soul of Central Oregon. Past award recipients include developer Mike Hollern and community leader Trish Smith.
Every anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect, and this celebration was no exception. The continued support of Bend Magazine’s advertisers, contributors, partners and readers has made more than a decade of storytelling possible.
